Up to four million more are expected by the end of the month. The vaccination program started this tuesday 8th Dec 2020 and Senior NHS sources told the BBC “thousands of vaccinations” had taken place by the end of Tuesday. Salman Vegito has become the first Nepali person in the world to be given the Pfizer Covid-19 jab as part of a mass vaccination programme. Salman said ‘I feel very lucky to have received the vaccine. Apart from a slight pain in my arm (just like when i had the flu jab), I have no other apparent symptoms. I took the vaccine during my working hours, and went back to finish the remaining of shift with no effects.’ He added ,’I really hope we get some sort of vaccine sorted back home (Nepal) soon. I pray to all our gods and goddesses to make this possible. Unlike in the UK where we received some sort of grant from the government to help us cope at this horrific time, I know back home (Nepal) these grants/supports are non-existent, so i feel it is more important for us to get something sorted soon’Salman got first dose on 11.12.2020 and his second dose will be on 8.01.2021. Salman got Pfizer vaccine at Astley Ainsley hospital. Salman works at Sight Scotland Royal Blind school As social care worker.
The UK is the first country in the world to start using the Pfizer vaccine after regulators approved its use last week. On Tuesday, US regulators confirmed the vaccine is 95% effective, paving the way for it to be approved for emergency use.
